He was an irascible
student, talented yet bored
He wouldn’t obey and often
the teacher he mocked
Finally there was
simply too much for her to ignore
She picked up her
stick and her right arm she cocked
Intending to go forward
with a ferocious intensity
She began thinking “I’m
going to beat this little B..tard!”
Then she hesitated,
wondering “What is wrong with me?”
“Is there a chance maybe
he can’t help it, the little retard?”
She gave him crayons
and paper and put him into the corner
In desperation upon
his head she affixed the dreaded fools cap
She made a mistake, because
there was no one there to warn her
The paper turned out
to be priceless 18th century foolscap.

Very goood.... it reminded me of my school days...
ReplyDeleteYes, but then you ask yourself, Who was really the fool? Very good
ReplyDeleteMostly this is autobiographical ... it was I who sat in the corner or stood out in the hall ... and none of my teachers EVER were the list bit shy of using the hickory stick or whatever weapon was handy.
DeletePunishment was 4 fold. The teacher would wack me upside the head and send me to the principal who would wack me upside the head and he would call my Mom who would wack me upside the head when I got home from school and when Dad got home, guess what? I got wacked upside the head a 4th time.
All that wacking didn't seem to help ... I was right back at it the next day.
you must be really hard headed huh?
ReplyDeleteLet's just say I became VERY familiar with the board of education.
DeleteWhen I finally finished up my PhD program I sent notices to all of my teachers from K to 12 who were still living and thenked them for all their inspiration
ReplyDeleteA couple of them replied, one of whom said, "You alwasy were the comedian ... looks like you got the last laguh on all of us."
I wasn't sure if he was being sincere or sarcastic, but I'm leaning toward the latter.
