<Come along then me hearties and I’ll tell ye a tale
Of the great adventures when travel was by sail
We sailed round The Horn with Cap’n Jack in ‘75
We returned to Hafnarfjörður only half still alive
One sight of such a coast will cause a landsman short breath.
He will dream for a week about shipwrecks, peril and death.
We had the misfortune of resistance from the Chileans
We said, “Just take our gold and we will be leavin’”
Lord forgive me, but you know this to be a flat lie
If you try to take our gold every one of you will die.
The fight was on and no one begged for quarter
Many died by the sword, many others in the water.
When the fighting was over we broke out the rum
We celebrated our survival and had a bit of fun.
Our celebration was quite merry and genuine
I even saw a sailor dancing with a penguin.
