A Real Horror Story

It was late in 1860 that South Carolina revolted
Took their slaves and from the Union they bolted.
Then Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi
Trouble was on the horizon, it was certainly plain to see.

February of 61 saw the birth of the CSA under Jefferson Davis
In March Pres. Lincoln said from these rebels I will save us.
Pierre Beauregard went to Ft. Sumpter with some cannons
Before you could say “Yeee-haw” the Civil War had begun.

There were unknown places with strange sounding names
Shiloh, Antietam and Fredericksburg all ended up in flames
Even a couple of iron sided ships managed to get in on the act
Caught up in the fray were the Monitor and the Merrimack

In 1863, The “Emancipation Proclamation” freed the slaves
It would take more than that for the South to mend it’s ways.
Two more years of fighting turned the fields and streams red
The last shot was fired and left over 620,000 Americans dead.


History is long on facts and maybe much too quick to blame
There is no doubt too much was lost, and too little was gained
In May of ’65 the Civil War ended, even though hotly debated
The Republic reunited after four years of being understated.

Duality

Those who suffer from indecision may engage in some plurality
There are other people who take comfort in their position of centrality
It is not our place to question any person’s decision or modality
One should feel no fear of being harangued for choosing neutrality.

In actuality all actions are tolerable if done with a bit of congeniality
The normality is trying not to suffer unnecessarily from extraterritoriality
A lack of universality actually proves a certain amount of originality
One must feel free to express individuality and not be accused of triviality.

The finality of the results is not as critical as a review of the causality
Functionality should not depend upon an optional choice of cyclicality
Though conditionality might dictate a certain amount of informality
Strictly as a technicality, it might be prudent to avoid the pitfalls of duality.

Perception

It often starts with a simple act of deception

Was it presented as a carefully thought out plan?

The road to hell is paved with good intentions

During impending bliss for a woman and a man.

 

What seemed like a very good idea at the inception

Now leads to a prize you had no wish to win

You wait for months for the grand reception

Learning how to fasten a garment with a safety pin

 

Did we perhaps engage in a little self-deception?

Should we have used some sort of contraception?

Was it all simply a matter of miscommunication?

Were those promises subject to misinterpretation?

 

It appears you can neither run nor hide

Do the results put you in a good or bad situation?

Only you know the answer, and you must decide.

A joy or a curse? It’s all a matter of perception.
